What a great state park!!! The beach was amazingly beautiful with its white sands and emerald waters. The water was so clean and inviting! The sand dunes are the tallest I have ever seen in Florida. The boardwalks offer a magnifiscent view of the bay on one side and the emerald coast on the other side. I felt in love with the beach the moment I got there. The staff was great. Hope to come back again and maybe stay in one of the cabins!

We go in the Fall or Winter. Absolutely beautiful. I recommend hiking north on the service road (sand) which is in the middle of the island. It is very quiet and beautiful. The park rangers are super-friendly and helpful. There are sand dunes that are 30-feet high which offer views of the north end of the island. I've seen Bald Eagles on two different visits.

A great place for snorkeling in the Florida panhandle. It is a bit of a hike to get to the park, even coming from Port St. Joe, but it is worth it. The beaches are gorgeous and not packed with tons of tourists, as nearby beaches on St. George Island always are. The park entrance fee of $6 is not bad at all and gives you access to not only the beaches, but restrooms, showers, shelters, and other amenities. The snorkeling in the seagrass beds is what I heard about the most though and what really brought me to the park. The beds are pretty shallow, which means that you need to be more careful with boats and other people around. In particular, there are a ton of large Southern Stingrays on the sandy beds, which can be easily startled. Besides these two points of warning, snorkeling offers a wonderful view into the homes of local wildlife and feels magical. Overall, the park offers a variety of activities and is well worth a visit!

Walk on pristine white sand beaches and enjoy clear gulf water on one side of this well-preserved natural habitat. On the bay side you can go for kayaking or try catching some speckled sea-trout. The park is a very comfortable and relaxing place for a day picnic or for camping. When entering the park ask for a permit to the secluded part of the beach where you can see more wildlife. That is the farthest place you can get by car. In the summer sea turtles come to lay their eggs on the beach. If you go in June or July you will definitely sea marked nests.

Sand trails. Need to ask at front gate for a permit to access the trails. Bring strong bug spray to the beach, the flies are murderous. The north trail camping spots are remote but look amazing. Don't bring shells home...even if they look empty, there are probably aquatic hermit crabs hiding deep in them. Now have 5 new pets, until we get back to Florida again.
